Is it just me, or do the folks who favorite almost new deviation to go up on the homepage aggravate you all as well? Whenever I get a notification that some stranger has favorited a submission of mine, I get a sense of happiness caused by the fact that someone liked something that I made. In fact, that was one of the initial allures that kept me coming back to deviantART. Now, however, whenever I go to thank the random stranger, more often than not, my submission isn't even in their recent favorites, due to the incessant nature of their favoriting, done simply to draw others to their page. To me, an artist's popularity ought to be caused by the merit and quality of their work, not by spamming favorites. To me, the problem is degrading to the experience of dA as a whole, and I don't believe that I'm alone in that sentiment. As for the remedy, that's beyond me, but the problem remains. /vent/

I secret we met-- I silence I grieve, That thy heart could forget, Thy spirit deceive. If I should meet thee After long years, How should I greet thee? With silence and tears.
